It was a winning weekend for Precision Racing LA in the Pirelli GT4 America program. Terry Borcheller joined Ryan Eversley, and the pair reached the podium's top step in race one and returned to the iconic podium Sunday in race two.
Terry Borcheller joined Ryan Eversley in the #07 Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO in the Pirelli GT4 America program and immediately had the best qualifying result of the season for that entry. In the first of two qualifying sessions that would set the grid for race one, Borcheller clocked a time of 1:30.530 to slot himself into third position in the Pro-Am category. Eversley would take over the controls for the second half of qualifying that set the grid for Sunday’s final race of the season and, in doing so, nearly matched the time of Borcheller in session one with a time of 1:30.615 to earn a P4 class result and eleventh overall.
The team has done an excellent job preparing for this weekend,” exclaimed Borcheller. “The car was fast off the trailer, which is what you need coming here with so little practice. We're all jelling nicely, including Ryan and I. We're not quite there with the setup, but we're very close. Hopefully, we can nail it for the first race and be in contention for a race win, which is our focus.”
Racing in the Pro-Am class and starting in the third position in class, the Borcheller and Eversley duo would be the first one to the checkered flag and score the race one victory. With a flawless race and driver change, it was perfect execution by both driver and team to climb to the top step of the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway podium.
“There was an added bit of pressure on everyone, I think because we came into the weekend expecting to win,” explained Borcheller. “In order to accomplish that goal, we all had to hit all our marks, drivers, and team. Being able to execute on that is never easy, but we did, and we came out of Indy with a "W". Any race win is special and given we're at Indy makes it even more so. Big thanks to the entire team, and my teammate Ryan, well done by all!”
Ryan Eversley added, “I can’t believe we just won Indy! I’m so thankful for this team and for Mario Biundo for giving me this opportunity. It’s been a tough year, but days like today show me that we’re heading in the right direction. Hoping to close out tomorrow’s race with another strong result so we can end the year on a high note.”
Race two saw Ryan Eversley take the green flag after securing the fifth place position in class in qualifying on Friday. There was a great deal of battling action to start the race and a full course caution was called with 42 minutes to go, bringing the field back together again and reigniting the fight. When the checkered flag flew, it was a podium result, their second of the weekend, as Terry Borcheller and Ryan Eversley crossed the line third and celebrated on the podium.
“Winning Saturday was a tough act to follow. I think there were a lot of emotions throughout the team for many reasons from the win,” explained Borcheller. “Today was also a great day and still a podium finish. A very positive way to end the season. We needed a little better balance, just a little too free in the rear. We made a positive change from yesterday, but with the hotter track temps today, we were in a similar situation with the rear end sliding too much. Made it lively but unfortunately didn't quite have the pace to win again. We also got the only full course caution just before the pits were opening, which pretty much erased any gap Ryan had to battle with two other cars in our class, so that was just a bit unlucky, but again, still a podium to finish the year!”
Ryan Eversley added, “Winning at Indy and getting another podium in race two is an amazing achievement for our team this weekend. Once again, I must thank Mario Biundo for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity. I’m so proud of our team and excited about the future!”
With a strong close to the 2024 Pirelli GT4 America season, Precision Racing LA is anxious and ready to get the 2025 season underway.
