This weekend’s Toyota GR Cup event at Road America was both challenging and character-building for the young Precision Racing LA drivers as they navigated the 4.048-mile, 14-turn permanent road course, one of the premier racing facilities in the country.
Jaxon Bell, earned 12th place in Saturday’s first qualifying session for Race 1 with a time of 2:31.437. He followed that up a few hours later finishing 7th in Race 1 with the best overall lap time of 2:32.394. In Sunday’s qualifying session for Race 2, Bell in the No. 2 PRLA car earned a starting spot in the 18th position with a time of 2:38.507. After such a strong finish in Race 1, Bell faced some challenges in Race 2 when his car suffered significant left-side damage after making contact with another car with about 34 minutes remaining in the race.
Spencer Schmidt, qualified 22nd (at 2:33.972) for Race 1 and finished 2 positions up from his start at 19th (with a best lap of 2:35.126). In qualifying on Sunday morning for Race 2, Schmidt earned the 24th spot due to qualifying being shortened by a red flag (at 2:41.447). In Race 2, he ended up 18th on the final grid.

The series now takes a one-month hiatus, returning for Races 11 and 12 of the 14-race schedule on Sept. 22-24 at Sebring International Speedway in central Florida.
The inaugural Toyota GR Cup season schedule finishes with Races 13 and 14 on Oct. 6-8 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
